Our libraries hold a number of major New Zealand daily newspapers and local newspapers. Many international newspapers may be accessed through Library Press Display or EBSCO databases. Our library indexes local North Canterbury newspapers. Search by keyword on this site.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, Stuff Ltd has removed all ‘off-site’ access to their papers, this includes the Christchurch Press. This means that Stuff Ltd content will no longer be available to customers using PressReader from home, however they can still be read on a computer or mobile device within the library. Click here for more information.
Read current New Zealand and International newspapers and magazines. Online copies of the print versions from the latest issue to the previous 60 days. Over 7000 titles from 100 countries in 56 languages. To learn how to get the most out of your press reader by personalising it, click here.
Waimakariri Libraries moved our digital magazines and comics from RBdigital to the Libby app, to form part of our OverDrive collection. The transition to Libby means that our digital magazine content is hugely expanded from around 100 titles to over 3000 magazine titles for you to choose from! There is also plenty of world language material for those who speak a second language.
The loan model is a bit different than on RBdigital app.
What is different? What is the same?
* Magazines can be issued for 21 days, then will automatically be returned from your account with the option to renew issues before they go
* Magazines issues are continuously available — it should be easy for you to borrow again as needed
* Up to 3 years of back issues are available to borrow for some titles
* Auto check out of new issues is no longer available
* You will no longer get email alerts when new issues are available
If you have already been using the Libby app to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks already, there is nothing you have to do.
For those who have not yet tried the Libby app, all you need to get started is your library card number and PIN number. The Libby app is easy to use and will guide you through the setup process and get you connected to our library in just a few minutes. You can find in-app support, visit the Help site or come into any Waimakariri Library branch for assistance. In just a few taps, you can start reading instantly on your phone or tablet. The digital library is available 24/7 without leaving home and is free from our library. Download the Libby app from the App or Play Store to get started.
