Skinny Jump is a programme designed to help more New Zealanders gain access to affordable broadband at home.  Because it uses Skinny’s 4G wireless network there’s no fibre or landline connection and no installation cost. No credit references or credit checks are needed.

Who can get Skinny Jump ?

Skinny Jump is designed for those who do not already have internet at home due to cost, or anyone who identifies with one or more of the following :

  • Families with children in low socio-economic communities
  • People with disabilities
  • Migrants and refugees with English as a second language
  • Māori & Pasifika youth
  • Offenders and ex-offenders
  • Seniors
  • People living in social housing

Although most areas are covered, Skinny Jump is not available at all locations -  ask at Waimakariri Libraries to check.

How much does it cost ?

Skinny Jump is a low cost, pre-paid service.

$5 will get you 35 GB of data, and you can buy an additional 6 lots of data every month. The first 35GB of data, and the modem, are free.

Contact Waimakariri Libraries to ask about signing up to Skinny Jump.

In our partnership with Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa we can now offer Ciena Jump to eligible secondary students and their families. Ciena Jump is similar to Skinny Jump, but it is specifically for secondary school students who do not have internet access at home to help them with their studies.

You will find more information how Ciena Jump works on their website.
