Waimakariri Libraries are open at Level 2.
Waimakariri Libraries are relieved, as no doubt our community are too, to be in Level 2 now.
Our My Book Bag service will be offered at Alert Level 2.
Building occupancy limits
Kaiapoi 100 visitors (including contractors and cleaning staff) plus staff
Rangiora 100 visitors (including contractors and cleaning staff) plus staff
Oxford 25 people in the building at any one time in total.
Contact tracing is mandatory for 12 years and over.This time at Alert Level 2 we will not be directly monitoring this, but each entrance way will make available both electronic and manual contract tracing options for all visitors over 12.
Holds charges being waived while we are at Alert Level 2.This creates equity for library users requesting the My Book Bag service, and will help to maintain building occupancy limits with people popping in to only collect their holds.
Until further notice, no library will be open late night at Alert Level 2.
At Alert Level 2, mask wearing is mandatory for all visitors to the library.
Disposable masks will be available for library users wanting to enter a library without their own mask.
Contactless payments are our preference while at Level 2, while recognising there may be some library users who still only work with cash.
Waimakariri Libraries are now a Fines Free Library Service and hold charges waived for Alert Level 2.
Programmes and Events
At Alert Level 2 all library based events, classes, story times and activities are on hold.
JP service desks only operate in Covid level ONE in line with our Canterbury JP Association service desk protocols.
Justices can resume seeing clients in their homes in Covid level two if they are comfortable doing this so.

Unaccompanied children are able to use our libraries at Alert Level 2.
Those over 12 are required to sign in for contact tracing purposes and must maintain 2 meters distance from other library users unless they are from the same family.
Waimakariri Libraries’ Digital Library is open 24/7 with our team responding to emails, inquiries and requests for library support during our usual hours of service.
