Autism Awareness Month

We need acceptance and pride.

Autism Awareness Month 2

April is normally called Autism Awareness month, but many autistic folks have been advocating that awareness isn't all we need, also acceptance (and even pride)! A surge of autistic self-advocates have, thanks to the internet, been able to be more vocal than ever about their lives, experiences, and what actually helps them. For more information please visit the Autistic Self Advocacy Network.

We are striving here at our libraries to make our collections and resources accessible to all our patrons, whether you need a quiet room, help locating books, seeking suggested reading, etc.

If you need any assistance or help from us meeting your needs, please contact us!

By phone: 03 311 8901

Or email at library@wmk.govt.nz (as we know dropping in or making phone calls isn’t something everyone can do).

If you are looking for book suggestions, our Diverse Voices newsletter has a great collection featured this month! (link:http://www.libraryaware.com/1190/NewsletterIssues/ViewIssue/6060c740-850e-4c3d-8061-869508c20dcd)
