Waimakariri Libraries Seed Bank

Published: 18-Nov-2020

Our Learning Connections Co-ordinator, Jason Clements, and his son Jasper, packaged more than 100 packs of seeds from their garden during the lockdown this year. They have just donated all the seeds to the Waimakariri Libraries Seed Desks, in the Oxford, Rangiora, and Kaiapoi Libraries.

Now we would like to encourage you to do the same. All you have to do is swap your seeds for what you need, then fill out the deposit, and withdrawal form inside the desk.

You are most welcome to take some seeds home, and donate your seeds to the desks when you visit any of our libraries. Recently donated seeds include: runner beans, butter beans, broad beans, snake beans, banana peppers, radishes, and marigolds.

We are planning to run seed raising workshops in all three libraries after show weekend, and are grateful to have sponsorship from McAlpines Mitre 10 MEGA Rangiora for these events.
