We asked some staff what their favourite books to read for Storytimes are...
1. Pete the Cat by James Dean (illustrator and creator) and Eric Litwin
The coolest of cats and, coincidentally, the number one favourite of our Children's Librarian! Timeless and fun, these stories are a hit with all the preschoolers, and the adults who read to them.
2. The big block of chocolate by Janet Slater Bottin
Amazing messages of sharing and enjoying things in the moment. With an added benefit of making you want to go buy a block of chocolate!
3. Diary of a Wombat by Jackie French
With cute illustrations, this is a hilarious story about a wombat's trials and tribulations. Just trying to get a carrot to eat and a hole to sleep in? Harder than you would think. Truly entertaining for both reader and audience alike. The diary-like entries add a touch of whimsy.
4. Poo Bum by Stephanie Blake
Need we say more?
5. Owl Babies by Martin Waddell
Covering on topics like separation anxiety, with a positive resolution. Reinforced by great repetition, making it great to read aloud. The enjoyment of reading this story is infinitely enhanced by putting on the voice of little baby owl! Quote "It's real cute."
