Waimakariri District Council community resources has information on funding & grants, social & health services, for those new to the area and more.

Metrocard

You can buy new Metrocards and top up your Metrocard at the Rangiora library and at the Council Service Centre at the Kaiapoi library.

Citizens Advice Bureau

C.A.B


Citizens Advice Bureau provides free and confidential advice to everyone. We take time to listen to you and equip you with the information, options and support that fits your needs.
The North Canterbury C.A.B. is situated at 209 High Street in Rangiora
Hours are 9:30 am - 3:30 pm Monday to Friday.

JP Signing Centre (JP)

Justice of Peace NZ logo

There is a Justice of the Peace available for signing documents in the libraries on the following days:

  • Rangiora library (meeting room) Tuesday 10 am - 1 pm.
  • Kaiapoi library (downstairs meeting room) Tuesday 11 am - 1 pm and Saturday 10 am - 12 noon
  • Oxford library Thursday 11 am - 1 pm

These free sessions are staffed by a roster of local JPs. Appointments are not necessary.

Rangiora Newcomers Network  

The Rangiora Newcomers Network run drop-in sessions to welcome people who are new to the District on Wednesdays from 11:00am-1:00pm.

Art/Music/Museum

The Chamber Gallery within the Rangiora library and Art on the Quay in the Ruataniwha Kaiapoi Civic Centre hold regular exhibitions, often with items for sale.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library support the library with different events that are offered during the year such as author talks and Kidsfest events.

Volunteering at the library

Much of our shelving of returned books is done by our team of library volunteers who give an hour or more once a week to help with this important job.
The library advertises at intervals when extra volunteers are required but if you are interested email us at library@wmk.govt.nz
