Find a good read...
There are days when inspiration for the next engrossing read doesn’t leap off the shelf into your hand. Maybe we can help!

Find a good read in the library catalogue...
Have you read a book with a particular setting or theme you’d like more of? Interested in reviews by library users? Want to share a good read? You can now do all this and more from our library catalogue. Use our catalogue to find other books with the same subject heading, or try the LibraryThing add-on. You’ll find this on the online catalogue for most books below the book record. You can find suggestions for specific titles that have connected appeal, or you can zero in on a “tag” that appeals to you and get choices of other books with the same tag. All suggested titles are held by our libraries.
Do you like to see what other people have thought of a book before you commit yourself? LibraryThing also provides reviews by readers – click on “See reviews / add a review” under the catalogue entry. Sign up and add your own reviews.
If You like ...
Do you have favourite authors whose works you have exhausted? Browse our readalike lists to the right. If you can't find what you're after in all our libraries you will find a reference book called “Who else writes like…” Look up your favourite author and find suggestions for others you might enjoy.
Hanging out for the next book by your favourite author? Try the Fantastic Fiction website http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/ to find upcoming titles plus author bios and complete lists of works and series. You can place a hold as soon as we have a book on order.
Just feel you want something light and cheerful, or perhaps some nail-biting suspense? Find reading suggestions by emotional appeal using the Whichbook search (www.whichbook.net) Adjust slider controls to suit and find books that match. This is a British site and we may not hold all titles, but it is great fun to use.
