The Summer Reading challenge is for any child or student between the age of 0 -18. There are three categories:
Some 12 year olds may be ready for the extended challenges that are available in the Teen programme where as others are more comfortable with the Primary School option.
How much does it cost to do the Summer Reading Challenge?
There is no charge to be involved in the Summer Reading Challenge.
Does my child have to be a member of the Waimakariri Libraries to do the Summer Reading Challenge?
Ideally they should be but if you are a parent of a preschooler or if you have young children visiting, you can still register children for the programme. This is a great opportunity to join your child as a library member and all the benefits it provides.
Yes some of the challenges do require access to our web page (remember, the library does have free internet access).
Registrations open on Monday December 11, 2017 and close on 21nd of January 2018 which is the final day to complete challenges and RSVP for party.
The finale part is a prizegiving, and official conclusion to the programme!
This year each age category has a separate finale party.
0 – 4 years: Friday 26 January, 10 – 11am, Kaiapoi Library, starring puppeteer Professor Punchinello (aka Jason Clements!). Snack provided.
5 – 12 years: Saturday 27 January, 10am – 12pm, Baptist Church Hall, East Belt, Rangiora, starring the amazing ‘PaperGirl’ and her dazzling array of tricks. Snack also provided.
12 – 18 years: Thursday 25 January, 5.30 – 7pm, Kaiapoi Library. Pizza and prizes!
You must RSVP for the finale party – details in the challenge booklet. All family members are invited to attend the finale party.
In order to win a prize from the prize draw we do need the participants to be present at the ceremonies. However, you can contact Donna at the Rangiora library if for any reason you cannot get there. Phone 03 311 8901 or email email@example.com
